Bhoomika Vihar was started in early nineties and got registered under the Society Registration Act 21/1860 in 1995-96. Girls/children and women trafficking, child marriage and declining sex ratio is the main focus of the organization’s work for last few years. The organization has also been working on the land rights, minimum wages, women’s rights, child rights, and illiteracy, feudal and other social issues since its inception. The organization had also made effort in drawing the attention of the people to the issues pertaining to Women & Water and Gender & Climate for several years.

 

The organization has initiated BETI BACHAO AANDOLAN (Protect the daughters – Celebrate the Girl Child) and working on girl child rights issue for last several years through mobilizing the adolescent group as “Agent of Change Makers”. This campaign includes awareness rising among communities on one hand and the organization is advocating at policy level on other hand. The organization from its beginning has always been presentable as “Social Activist.” As core intervention, organization has always tried to formulate Social & Behavior Change Communication focused strategies and tools for social change. Women & adolescent has been the nucleus.


Its contribution in Advocating the importance of Social Rehabilitation of victims and giving the concern concept a priority in the Anti Trafficking State Action Plan “ASTITVA” is outstanding. The organization always speaks on the significance of “Non- Institutional Care and Protection of vulnerable children.” Organization’s effort on declining sex ratio has resulted in several actions taken by government including formation of State Supervisory Board for implementation of PC& PNDT Act 1994 to stop female feticide in Bihar. The organization has been the member of Innovation Sectoral Council on child sex ratio, set up by Ministry of Women & Child Development, Government of India. New Delhi. Organization’s effort on declining sex ratio has resulted in several actions taken by government including re-structuring of State Supervisory Board for implementation of PC& PNDT Act 1994 to stop female feticide in Bihar.Bhoomika Vihar is also the member of State Supervisory Board of PC&PNDT Act 1994. Bhoomika Vihar has actively been contributing its role as Regional Secretariat of C.A.C.T {Campaign against child trafficking}. Trained girls/adolescent team of BV had not only shown their strength in catching the traffickers but had also made effort to lodge FIR against them taking support from local PRI members. Organization has also been involved in developing the Bihar State Policy for Children giving reference to National Policy for children 2013.


Through multi- dimensional activities from grass root level to advocacy level, BV always try to involve the marginalized population. Vocal and mainstreamed target groups contribute towards a constructive development. Concern strategy of Bhoomika develops confidence, a sense of ownership, leadership and social responsibility among the target population.
